New Children’s Pastor

May 6, 2013

Dear Christ Church family,

At the request of Pastor Dan, I have chaired a process with the pastors, church board, and various church volunteers searching for a children’s pastor. After a few months of searching, I am pleased to tell you, on behalf of the committee that Rev. Doug Swilley will soon be serving our children (birth through sixth grade) beginning June 10, 2013.

Pastor Doug has an extensive history of serving as a children’s pastor for more than three decades. He has served at Faith is the Victory Church in Nashville, Hendersonville Chapel in Hendersonville, and currently at Redemption Church in Knoxville. Doug’s training, experience, and passion for serving as pastor to children and their families will allow him to bring a cohesive and comprehensive approach to our children’s ministry. His proven track record assures us that he will build a relational community among our many wonderful volunteers. His background has afforded him a faith-filled Christian life and theology while serving the Kingdom of God. He has relationships with the highly respected ministries of Willie George (Church on the Move, Oklahoma City) and Jim Wideman (World Outreach Church, Murfreesboro), Fellowship Church (Dallas) and Group Publishing.

Pastor Doug will be returning to the Nashville area with his wife of 35 years, Paul Anne. Together they have two adult children: JD, who serves as the Associate Youth Pastor at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro and Anna Margaret who serves as an administrative assistant in youth ministry in Ft. Collins, Colorado. The Swilleys have three grandchildren who live in Middle Tennessee and are looking forward to being closer to “home.”

Pastor Doug, upon accepting the call to our congregation, wrote me that he accepts the call “with the confident expectation that God is about do something special, not in Christ Church only, but in me also, as we team together to lead this great work.”

More information about a welcoming reception will be forthcoming once we have the details finalized. I am looking forward to you joining me in welcoming Doug and Paul Anne to Nashville.

I would like to thank Pastors Dan Scott and Bruce Grubbs and Mr. Russell Mauldin in addition to the volunteers that assisted in this screening and interview process. Their prayer and feedback was key in assisting making this monumental decision.

Our commitment to children and youth is ongoing. May the Lord grace us with favor as we teach our children and nurture them in the knowledge and love of the Lord.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Daniel Bell
Associate Pastor
