Psalm 8

, October 7, 2018

In the 8th Psalm, the writer praises God for the ordering of nature and then marvels at the smallness of humanity, but he then marvels about how God has placed humanity at the center of God’s attention. The writer of the Hebrews quotes the same Psalm but reflects on the comment about angels. Just as we are to loom through nature at the greatness of God, so we are to look through the supernatural at Jesus. All natural and all supernatural experience is about introducing us to Jesus. However, without supernatural awareness, we rarely come to know Jesus. In an age that is skeptical about supernatural life, an important part of the Christian journey is thus opening our souls to the presence of God.
