Faith Foundations 2014

Faith Foundations Blog

The annual offering of our Faith Foundations course will be held on Wednesdays from January 15 through May 14 at 6:30pm in Room 130 (behind the Sanctuary platform).

Faith Foundations is a study of the basic principles of the Christian Faith as revealed in Scripture and handed down through the Apostles and church fathers throughout history. We believe it encompasses our motto, “Opening the soul to the presence of God.” It also incorporates all of our four core values, especially “teach and practice an ancient-future faith.”

This 16-week class is a powerful study of the basic principles of the Christian faith, such as the character of God, baptism, communion, the Holy Spirit, and marriage. Join us each week for a time of pastoral teaching and group discussion, which will give you an opportunity to learn about and experience Jesus through the sacraments of the Church. This also will equip you for service in the body of Christ. Upon completion of the class, there will be a special confirmation service* on Sunday, May 18, 2014 for those desiring to be confirmed.

*Confirmation is a traditional ceremony of the Christian Church. After being instructed in the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and experiencing the sacraments, one publicly affirms their faith and beliefs. During the ceremony the candidate experiences the laying on of hands by the presbytery of the church and receives sanctifying grace to be a witness to Christ. Confirmation also celebrates God’s presence in the life of the believer as the Holy Spirit continues to guide, strengthen, and empower recipients to live and witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
