Christ Church Family Update – Week of Sunday, April 12

Grace and Peace to you, Christ Church family!

Even in a season like this so filled with change, we are grateful we can always hold fast to the unchanging character of God, and cling to the promises of God’s Word. Remember, we are a Resurrection People who love and serve a Resurrected Savior who first loved and served us! He Is Risen!

At our Annual Meeting this year, we looked at six core values we believe express the heart of how we are to embody our God-given identity as Christ Church Nashville. Though aspects of our congregational life are certainly different in this time, we believe God is working to deepen our practice of these values in new ways so we might be ultimately strengthened as part of the Body of Christ. Now, more than ever, we are invited to live into these values as we navigate through this present pandemic. Let us encourage one another to prayerfully ask the Lord what He desires to reveal to each of us, as we continue to grow together through these six core values.

Worship: As you know, we have shifted our weekly gathering and worship to online platforms while we are unable to meet in person. The easiest way to join online worship is to download the Christ Church mobile app at ccnash.org/app. Meeting online has provided us the opportunity to remain unified and connected in community. While worshiping online may be a new and challenging experience for some, we encourage you to lean into this form of corporate worship and choose to engage. Try not to simply watch the service. Instead, participate! Practice doing the same things with your body, soul, and mind while worshiping at home that you would do if we were gathered in the same room. We all know the Church is not the building, and this is an opportunity to grow in our ability to worship the Lord together no matter where we are!

Word of God: The comfort, assurance, and encouragement offered to us via the Word of God are always vital, but how much more so in such a time as this. As a church family, we began reading through the Bible together this year, which remains a great way to continue to grow spiritually in this time. You can find the reading plan at ccnash.org/readthebible, and you can also read our Scripture of the Day on our Christ Church app. Download the app at ccnash.org/app. Additionally, we have the wonderful resource, Right Now Media, which our entire congregation can use free of charge. Access this resource at ccnash.org/rnm.

Prayer: We are a church that believes in the power of prayer. As a church family, we want you to know our prayer teams are continually calling out your name in prayer. If you have any prayer requests, please do not hesitate to call the church office, text 615-266-3350, or email info@ccnash.org with your need so we can add it to our prayer list. Thank you for praying, and may we all be faithful in especially remembering to lift up the sick and their families, our health care and other essential workers, our leaders, first responders, and all those on the front lines during this time.

Generosity: We know that all things ultimately belong to God, but we are given the great responsibility to steward the resources with which He entrusts us. Thank you for your continued generosity with your time and financial resources which allow us to more readily meet the needs of our community. This season gives us a greater opportunity to BE THE CHURCH and serve our neighbors in a time of such uncertainty. Now is the time to show what we know to be true: that we cannot out-give God by any means! God is continuing to pour out His gracious generosity—not just to His people, but through His people – as a channel of blessing. One practical way of helping meet the needs of our community in a spirit of generosity, is to continue dropping off groceries at the office entrance of the church building so we can keep Martha’s Pantry well-stocked. Thank you for continuing to support this important ministry which feeds so many!

Community: Our commitment to being the Church relationally has not wavered. We still have many opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus within our church family and local communities! Who are you reaching out to in your community of friends and neighbors? How are you learning to be present with others during this time of social distancing? If we all reached out to encourage and connect with one person today, what kind of impact might we make? What kind of ripple effect could such loving kindness create? In a time when we need to remember “God is with us,” let us be even more diligent in making ourselves available to reach out to remind and strengthen one another in this truth.

Diversity: We are a diverse community of believers in every way, comprised of people from a vast array of socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, yet united in Christ. Our congregation intentionally brings together several generations of the Family of God, recognizing the immense value God places upon the youngest and the oldest among us, along with everyone in between. We are thankful for the broad spectrum of denominational experiences and church traditions present within Christ Church Nashville. Our unity in this diversity, made possible by the Holy Spirit, is a tremendous gift we value deeply. Additionally, we are privileged to partner in ministry with the congregations also present on our campus. Even in these times of social distancing, we are continuing to serve alongside Nashville Life Church, St. Mary’s of Bethany, Christ Church Latina, and our Nepali congregation.

While we undoubtedly look forward to the time when we may all gather together again in the same space, we are truly grateful that God will still strengthen and unify us spiritually, even while we are separated physically in this season. Let us pray the Lord will edify and empower us to increasingly embody these six core values in this time, knowing He is preparing us, even now, for what He has in store “for those who love God, and are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Finally, please be sure to join us in worship online on Sunday mornings at 10:30am. Join via our Christ Church app, on our website, on Facebook Live, or on YouTube.
