What is Stewardship?

Christ Church Nashville believes that stewardship is about using all resources God provides for His glory and the betterment of His creation. God is the who in stewardship. Our primary responsibility is to the One who entrusted all things into our care. We steward for the living God.

“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell there-in.” ~ Psalm 21:1 (NIV)

Our all-knowing and all-powerful God is infinitely capable of managing those things which He created and set in motion. Since He has the power to create anything, He certainly has the ability to manage all that He has made. God does not need people to manage His estate for Him—rather He appointed people as rulers with Him! This means that God has already entrusted those resources to our management.

“For every animal of the forest is mine and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field. If I were hungry, I would not tell you for the world is mine, and all that is in it.” ~ Psalm 50:12 (NIV)

God spoke all things, seen and unseen, into existence, maintains a position of authority over creation, exercises discretionary control over creation, and commissions us to enact His will.

Does Christ Church Nashville have to pay transaction fees for online giving? Yes, there are transaction fees associated with each type of online giving. Even with fees, we encourage online giving because this helps us reduce overhead costs by freeing up resources in other areas. E-checks (ACH/Bank Transfers) have the lowest fee structure and debit/credit cards have slightly higher fees associated with them.

Will I still receive a contribution statement if I give online? Yes, we will mail periodic contribution statements, including end of year statements, to everyone who contributes. In addition, you can request a current giving statement from us at any time.

Who do I talk to if I have more questions? Contact our Director of Finance and Accounting, Ann Smithson, at ann.smithson@ccnash.org or (615) 834-6171.
