The Strategy of Elevate Youth Ministry

The church, by definition, is a gathering of believers who have been transformed – those who have submitted to Christ’s Lordship and therefore have been called from darkness into the Light. This obviously does not mean a perfect people, nor does it mean excluding unbelievers from attendance. It does mean, however, keeping the health and safety of God’s flock as a, if not the, primary concern. Therefore, in developing our strategy for youth ministry we focus on four pillars which stand on a firm foundation of prayer.

The Four Pillars and Foundation of Youth Ministry

Community
The importance of developing a people who have more contact than just on Sundays and Wednesdays is an absolute necessity for ultimate change in our lives. Family entails loving, trusting, and even liking one another enough to invest time with each other.

WORSHIP

Worship is not only limited to the area of music, it extends to every realm of life!  The Scripture says that true worship is offering our bodies as living and holy sacrifices to the Lord (Rom 12:1).  This is done through outward expression (i.e. song, dance, drama, etc.), loving our neighbors as ourselves, and dedicating our lives to serving others.

THE WORD

We will be a people centered on the Word of God. We will make the Word our culture - learning, gleaning, and applying all that is written in the Word of life.

FAMILY

The key to all ministry action involves the family as a unit. This is where lasting change is affected. We must be purposeful in engaging and equipping parents

Foundation – Prayer
If it is really true that God calls, draws, changes, protects, and provides for us, then it is essential we build nothing without seeking Him first. In the Old Testament, many battles were fought and lost because God’s people did not first seek God’s guidance. Although failure in this area is inevitable to some extent, we will strive toward praying too much!

“God will manifest Himself in direct proportion to the passion of the people seeking Him.” – Jim Cymbala
