Dan's Thoughts

Trish #55 - June 2, 2005

Our dear Friends,

Several months ago, our good friend, Vickie Riley, sent me this verse from the Song of Solomon:

“Lo, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone, the flowers appear on the earth and the time of singing has come.”

Trish and I are enjoying the flowers and the singing!

Exactly one year ago today (June 2), I wrote to tell you about Trish’s aneurism. Today is, as you will recall, also our wedding anniversary. On last anniversary, Trish’s life was in great danger. She was in a deep coma and we thought she could possibly even die that night. Today, one year later, we returned from Florida where we spent several days enjoying one another, good food, the ocean and the sun. Hardly an hour passed this week that we did not recall the unspeakable gift of life, health and hope. We praised God. We celebrated life. We made plans. We told jokes. We cried. We took long walks. We just had a good old time! It was our best anniversary ever.

The week before we were in Phoenix with all our friends there. We went to St. Joseph’s hospital to thank as many as those who served us last year as we could. We visited with our family and friends. We have tried to tell everyone just how grateful we are for your prayers and love. We have missed anyone, we will get to you. It is our life’s work now to bless our friends and family in whatever ways we can. You stood by us; we will stand by you.

We will keep you informed about Trish’s continuing miracle recovery and about the Phoenix Marathon she is training to do in January. Other than that, our plans are just about loving God, loving each other and making music with our friends.

I remind you that all of the emails about Trish and our journey through the Valley of the Shadow are now on the Christ Church website, as well as other writings on various subjects.

Dan
