Drug Uses
Imodium is used for treating and controlling diarrhea, including traveler's diarrhea, and reducing the volume of discharge from an ileostomy (a surgical opening in the wall of the intestines). It can also be used for other situations as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Take Imodium as advised by your doctor. To avoid stomach upset take Imodium with a food intake. It is suggested to drink extra fluids while you are taking Imodium and while you have diarrhea. Do not take for more than [[two|2] days unless directed by a doctor.
Additional Information
Imodium can cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects can worsen if Imodium is taken with alcohol or certain other drugs. Take Imodium with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you react to this medicine. If your symptoms don't improve or if they worsen, talk to your doctor. Imodium should be used only by the patient for whom it has been directed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than determined by your physician.
