Carafate is used for treatment and prevention of ulcers. It can also be used for other conditions as recommended by your physician.
How Taken
Use Carafate as advised by your physician. Use Carafate on an empty stomach at least one hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Don't take an antacid for at least 30 minutes before or after taking this drug. It may take 4 to 8 weeks for complete healing of your ulcer. Continue taking Carafate for the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Don't use Carafate at the same time as other pills. Take Carafate at least two hours after other pills. If you are not sure about the best time to take Carafate, call to your doctor or pharmacist.
