In this day and age, we are used to businesses proudly stating that they have had their doors open for fifteen years. We applaud marriages that have lasted ten years, and are amazed when they last twenty! Being faithful to any person or dream is hard, especially as the years move on and the excitement isn’t what it used to be. Without the faithfulness of loving family and community, staying on task day after day would be impossible. Christ Church Nashville will soon celebrate her 60th anniversary. We are awed, amazed, humbled, and proud of all that God has allowed our church to become. These years were made possible because of the hard work of loyal and loving people who have been dedicated to the vision of Christ Church. You might not have been there the first time Brother Hardwick gave a sermon. In fact, you might not have been alive! But whenever you joined this community, you are part of Christ Church, and help to make future years possible. Please join us on September 13 as we reminisce and celebrate the past sixty years, and be part of Christ Church history!

Senior Pastor

Dear Friends,
Sixty years! Can it be possible that it was more than a half century ago that, at age 18, I committed my life to serve God and this congregation?  Did I look down through the decades and envision this day? I can’t really say — I just know that my wife and I dreamed and prayed of leading souls to Christ in great numbers. We humbly asked God to direct our path and instruct us in His truth and grant us wisdom and strength to care for those He would send our way. And He has never failed us; however, I seriously doubt that, during those early years, we could have imagined that thousands would hear the Good News of Jesus Christ because of the steadfast and enduring faith of that small group of believers.

On September 13, 2009, Christ Church Nashville will commemorate sixty years of service to this community, as well as my sixty years of ministering to this congregation. We have a wonderful day of celebratory events planned and we want our church family and all of our friends to come and join in the festivities.

Following our great day of celebration and thanksgiving, we will return to our calling as soul-winners and caretakers of the wonderful legacy established over sixty years. We will do as we have always done — treating every day as a new beginning — a fresh opportunity to share the Gospel with those in our midst and around the world.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you on our special day and I am looking forward to the next sixty years!

L. H. Hardwick, Jr.
